From this activity, I learned that if you plug -x into where all the x's should be and it turns out the same as it was originally, that it is an even function. If you were to get a completely different answer, then it is an odd function. Even and odd functions are similar because most of the time, they are very close to the same as the original except with a different sign such as x^3-x as an odd function could turn into x^3+x. If an exponent is an odd number, the majority of the time the function will be an odd function and it would also work the other way with even exponents being even functions.
